Delbert Salas

Delbert Leroy Salas, age 45, passed away at Christus St Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe following a prolonged illness. Delbert was born on November 23, 1966 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Miguel and Juanita (Duran) Salas. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. He loved to go fishing, and going for a ride whenever his illness allowed him too, he always made it a point to visit his brothers and sisters graves at the cemetery. Delbert worked for various motels in Santa Rosa and was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Parish. He is preceded in death by his father, Miguel, his brothers; Tony, Raymond, Freddy and Martin, his sisters; Esther Griego, Christine Garcia and his niece, Marla Salas. Survivors include his mother, Juanita Chavez of the family home in Santa Rosa, his sisters; Lucille Salas, Martha Salas, Perla Salas all of Santa Rosa, Priscilla Aragon and husband Nick of Los Lunas, Gloria Salas and Barbara Duke and husband John all of Fort Sumner, brother; Anthony Salas of Santa Rosa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Monday, December 05, at 6:00 PM from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. A second rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 6, also at 6:00 PM from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, at 11:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Joseph Thomas, CMI officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be his nephews; Phillip Campos, Miguel Campos, Anthony Salas, Chris Salas, Ruben Salas and Ricardo Salas.
