Annie Lucille Bivins, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2011 at her son’s home in Lovington, NM. She was born on April 27, 1927 in Durwood, OK to the home of Joe and Grace Hamlett. She joined one sister Myrl and a brother AJ and later welcomed sisters Betty, Martha and Charlyne. When she was 15 she met and married Roy Clyde Bivins also of OK. They had 6 children together and were married for 53 years before his death in Nov. 1995. They made their home in Arizona for a time and then in Feb 1971 they bought a farm in the beautiful valley of Ft. Sumner. They so enjoyed the years spent there and the many people they met that became family. Lucille was very active in the First Baptist Church and in later years enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens for lunch and fellowship. She is rejoicing in Heaven today with her husband Roy, son Lennie, daughter Rachel, and grandson Chad Bivins along with her parents and other loved ones. She will be greatly missed by her son Roy Eugene and wife Sharon Bivins of Lovington, NM, daughter Phyllis and husband Chris Diaz De Valdez of San Manuel, AZ, daughter Junie and husband Larry Davis of Ft. Sumner, NM, and daughter Juanita and husband Andrew of Bernalillo, NM along with 18 grandchildren and 32 great and great, great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother and 4 sisters including Betty Garcia and husband Frank of Ft. Sumner. Many other family members and friends have been important to her throughout her life. Funeral services will be held at the Jackson Avenue Baptist Church at 837 West Jackson Ave. Lovington, NM on Saturday October 22, 2011 at 10am. Memorial services and burial will be the following week in San Manuel AZ where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Roy and daughter Rachel. All of her family and friends are welcome to join us at either service to celebrate her life. Donations to a cancer program of your choice would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
