Kody Ray Downing

Kody Ray Downing, 18 of Clovis, NM died Friday, October 7, 2011 in an automobile accident near Melrose, NM. He was returning to Clovis from a day of working cattle in House, NM. Kody was born March 11, 1993 in Galveston, TX the son of Loren Ray Downing and the former Valerie Kay Goar. He attended O’Conner High School in San Antonio, TX and completed his senior year at Texico High School graduating with the Class of 2011. While in school he participated in 4H, FFA, Ag Mechanics, welding, and raised pigs. He also participated in Track his senior year. Kody was attending Clovis Community College; he also worked for Clovis Livestock and RAC Transport. He attended Muleshoe Cowboy Fellowship Church. He enjoyed reading, his animals, especially his tortoise “Tortugo”, paint ball, and he loved his siblings and friends. Kody is preceded in death by his paternal Great-great-grandmother Gigi Ellison in 2010; maternal great-grandmother Doris Goar in 2010; maternal great-grandfather Vencil O’Donnell in 2005 and maternal grandmother Molly Snipes in 2011. Survivors include his father Loren Ray Downing and his wife Kimberly of San Antonio, TX; his mother Valerie Kay Snipes and husband John of Clovis, NM; four sisters Cassidy Downing of Clovis; Jalee Snipes of Clovis; Chantal Newsom of San Antonio, TX; Rayann Downing of San Antonio, TX; two brothers Loren Richard Downing of San Antonio, TX and Jacob Woods of Phoenix, AZ; maternal grandmother Kathleen Holmes and husband Gilbert of Clovis, NM; paternal grandmother Joye Downing of San Antonio, TX; paternal grandfather Larry Downing and wife Betty of Milan, NM; maternal grandfather Lonnie Goar and wife Mary of Mountainair, NM; paternal grandfather Richard Kozeliski of Gallup, NM; paternal great-grandfather Dairl Goar of Mountainair, NM; paternal great-grandmother LaTrelle Mieher of Bovina, TX, maternal great-grandmother Mary O'Donnell of New Braunfels, TX, and maternal grandfather Jimmie Snipes of House, NM. He is also survived by several uncles and aunts including Allen Holmes of Big Sky, Montana; Kyle Goar and wife Lela of Cliff, NM; David Downing and wife Mallory of San Antonio, TX; Joe Ben Snipes of Fort Hood, TX; and Cauy Goar and Erin Mace of Cliff, NM. His aunts Sally Holmes and fiancé Lovis Kauf of Dallas, TX; Deanna Dane and husband Mike of San Angelo, TX; Sherri Bays and husband Ty of Silver City, NM; Nicki Rogers and husband Gary of Las Cruces, NM, Anton and Kathy Maltby of Albuquerque and Gloria Kozeliski of Cochiti Lake, NM. Also surviving are many great-aunts and uncles along with a host of other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 14, 2011 from the Texico High School Educational Complex, 520 N.
