Rosary services for Mercedes Gutierrez will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from the church with Father Joseph Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Anton Chico, NM. Pallbearers will be Rigo Madero, Joseph Fernandez, Michael Fernandez, Andrew Casaus, Randy Martinez, Ramiro Madero and Loren Padilla. Honorary bearers will be all her nephews. Mrs. Gutierrez, age 75 of Clovis and formerly of Anton Chico, NM died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX following an illness. She was born March 2, 1936 in Anton Chico, NM to the home of Estevan and Sinforiana (Baca) Gonzales. She attended schools at Anton Chico and Luna Vocational School in Las Vegas. Mercedes was a homemaker, she loved arts & crafts, crocheting, working in her garden, cooking special meals and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her dog companion, Apricot. Mercedes is preceded in death by her husband Mariano Gutierrez in 1999; her parents; an infant daughter Maxine Gutierrez, three sisters Juanita Baca, Reynalda Baca, Antonia Padilla and a brother Andres Gonzales. Survivors include four sons Martin (Diane Silva) Gutierrez; Gilbert Gutierrez; Joe Gutierrez; Eugene Albert Gutierrez all of Clovis; three daughters Dorothy (Randy Martinez) Gutierrez of Fort Sumner; Joann Casaus and husband Andrew of Albuquerque and Christine and husband Ramiro Madero of Fort Sumner. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
