Barbara Jean Maupin, 63 died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her home west of Melrose, NM. She was born April 30, 1948 in Antioch, CA to the home of Floyd Eugene and Bessie (Steele) Davis. She was reared in San Jose and Antioch, CA. She married Leslie Maupin in Boise City, Oklahoma. Barbara was a ranch wife and she loved living in the country, nurturing baby animals of all types. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother sister and friend and will be dearly missed by her family. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Leslie Maupin of the home; two sons Gene Maupin and wife Araceli of Bakersfield, CA; William Maupin and wife Leslie of Fort Sumner; two daughters Deborah Provence and husband Billy of Las Cruces, NM; Vera Herrera and husband Norbert of Fort Sumner, NM; a step-son Leslie (Spike) Maupin and wife Gail of Vadar, WA; and a step-daughter Cyndi Franklin and husband Jay of Castle Rock, WA; a brother Bud Davis and wife Karen of San Jose, CA; and a sister Jan Pitts and husband Norm of Peoria, AZ. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 1PM to 6PM at the funeral home and Friday from 1PM until service time at the church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2011 from the Melrose Baptist Church with Rev. Durwood Wofford officiating. Burial will follow at House Community Cemetery, House, NM. Pallbearers will include Sid Provence, Alan Provence, Joshua Provence, Jeff Provence, Colby Maupin, DA Kerg, Stonewall Montgomery, and Troy Turnbough.
