Carmen Ara, age 86, passed away on April 26, 2011 at her home in Round Rock, Texas following an illness. Carmen was born July 16, 1924 in Dilia, NM to the home of Enrique and Julia Ulibarri Cordova. She married Angel Ara in 1943 in Vaughn, NM where they made their home until moving to California in 1953. While living in California, Carmen was actively involved as a Volunteer with the St. Anne’s Social Justice and St. Vincent de Paul for over 25 years. Carmen made her home in Round Rock, TX 1 ½ years ago. She was a Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend and she will be missed dearly by all. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Angel Ara, two sons; Victor Ara and John Ara and a brother; Juan Cordova. Survivors include her daughters; Dede Heaton and husband Dow of Taos, NM and Yolanda Ara of Round Rock, TX, her grandchildren; Eric Robinson , Angela Walters, Victor Longstreth, Blue MacHardy, Brooke Chambers, John Dow Heaton, Jessica Heaton and Lucia Ara. Also surviving Carmen are 11 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 9:00 AM from St. Mary’s Church in Vaughn. Mass will follow at 10:00 AM with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, NM. Father Simeon will officiate. Pallbearers will include; Eric Robinson, Victor Longstreth, Roger Robinson, John Dow Heaton, Robin Driver and Robert Anaya. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be; Tom Rael, Frank Rael, John Longstreth, David Robinson, Daniel Robinson, Rueben Robinson and Dow Heaton.
