Mark J. Lopez (1958-2011) Mark Joseph Lopez, 53 a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa, NM was born February 20, 1958 in Santa Rosa, NM. He attended Santa Rosa Public Schools and graduated from SRHS Class of 1976. He attended Luna Vocational Technical Institute receiving a certificate in Electrical Wiring in 1988. Beginning at age 14 Mark worked as a bilingual radio announcer for the local radio station. He worked at several Santa Rosa businesses and as handyman and electrician. Mark was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, camping and target shooting. He was an artist and enjoyed drawing and singing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Mark is preceded in death by an infant daughter Savannah Amanda Lopez and his maternal grandparents Juan and Paula Marquez with whom he shared a special relationship. Survivors include his longtime companion Carol Quintana of Santa Rosa; a daughter Jessica Lopez of Albuquerque; a son Anthony Encinias of Santa Rosa; his mother Rose (Marquez) Lopez of Santa Rosa; his father LeRoy Lopez of Albuquerque; two sisters, Cynthia and husband Charles Trujillo of Albuquerque; Lucia and husband Jeff Fauver of Albuquerque; three brothers, Billy Lopez of Santa Rosa; LeRoy Lopez of Santa Rosa, and Paul Lopez of Denver, CO. Also surviving are Carol's children Justin and Joshua Quintana of Chicago, IL along with a host of other relatives and many friends. All friends and family are invited to a public memorial service at 5:30 PM Thursday, March 31, 2011. The service will be held at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel; 923 South Third Street; Santa Rosa, NM. A reception will follow at the National Guard Armory.
